AWS AI FinOps considerations
AWS will be a natural fit for organisations that already run significant workloads there and want AI capabilities to align with existing platform, identity, networking, and cost-management practices.
From an AI FinOps perspective, the main attraction is not just access to AI services. It is the ability to connect AI usage to broader AWS governance, account structures, budgets, and operating models.
Strengths
- alignment with existing AWS estates and operating patterns
- familiar cost management structures for AWS-heavy teams
- good fit where centralised cloud governance is already mature
Watchouts
- AI costs can still become fragmented across accounts, services, and experiments
- model choice and service layering can make spend hard to interpret
- existing cloud controls do not automatically solve AI governance questions
